Among other notables, MNA Ms Faryal Talpur, Sindh Ministers Nisar Khuhro, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Syed Nasir Shah, Jam Mehtab Dahar, Sohail Anwar Siyal and Ali Mardan Shah and MNA Nawab Yousuf Talpur and DG PDMA Syed Salman Shah attended the meeting. Syed Salman Shah along with CM's advisor on Relief & Rehabilitation Ali Hassan Hingoro who had visited Thar on the instruction of the Sindh CM briefed the meeting about prevailing situation there. Salman Shah said that over all OPD ratio of Mithi Civil hospital as stated by Medical Superintendent Dr Iqbal Bhurgri is around 900 patients daily, of them hardly 150 are infants. Around 25 new born are admitted in the nursery.
He added that from January 1 to 10 some 17 new born have died and most of them were pre-term deliveries caused by infections during deliveries in unhygienic conditions at their homes. Syed Nasir Shah who had visited Thar also said that he had found most of the population of the desert living in poverty. Though there is no drought condition yet the distribution of wheat would give a considerable relief to the poor people, he added. The Sindh CM taking policy decision directed the Food department to distribute wheat free of cost among the poor people of Thar.
